Speakers are exchanging places at the podium for the 1975 stadium dedication. Fred G. Hughes in the foreground on the far right. Fred G. Hughes Stadium opened in 1975. It was the first state college stadium in Missouri to use artificial turf. The stadium is named after Fred G. Hughes, who was president of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Regents between 1964 and 1981.
